I want MyProtector but I have life cover that pays beneficiaries already. What happens?
The value of MyProtector outweighs most policies used for estate administration because they include additional protection for the whole family. A policy only pays out when the principal member passes away before estate costs can be paid for. Whereas, MyProtector offers services like winding-up your children's affairs at zero cost before any policy is ever paid out. There are many more such examples.
Do I need a lawyer for the estate administration?
From a strict legal standpoint, there is no mandatory requirement to enlist the services of a lawyer for estate administration. However, it is advisable to seek professional assistance, as the intricate procedures involved can be challenging to navigate without the expertise of a qualified professional. The high court typically insists on the involvement of a lawyer to facilitate the process effectively and they will charge the high fees we aim to eradicate.
What is estate administration?
Estate administration is the formal legal procedure for settling one's affairs after passing away. This comprehensive process involves various stages, including appointing an executor, preparing a detailed account of assets and liabilities, liquidating and distributing accounts, and ultimately presenting the entire case to the high courts for closure of the estate.
Does MyProtector help with the estate administration?
Yes, MyProtector extends a comprehensive service to its members, encompassing all aspects outlined in the benefits and services suite policy document.
What stops MyProtector from charging estate administration fees when I die?
As the appointed executor in the legal will, our members' policy services are incorporated into the document, and our business operates ethically to protect our reputation and adhere to best practices. The high court will monitor the L&D account, ensuring that no fees are charged for services listed in the membership policy document. Our members collaborate with our attorneys to create the legal will and have access to this clause.
How is MyProtector different than a traditional law firm?
MyProtector distinguishes itself by not charging members for estate administration and conveyancing fees based on asset value. Instead, a membership fee covers the entire service. Additionally, the use of LegalTech platforms streamlines document location and data collection, enhancing overall efficiency. |

How do we ensure that we get independent legal advice?
Although not a law firm, MyProtector boasts in-house qualified attorneys and advisors, collaborating with a network of licensed legal professionals across South Africa. These professionals assist in drafting wills and providing additional services. For specific legal advice, MyProtector will facilitate contact with these legal experts via the LegalTech platform.
How will Myprotector know when I have passed away?
Members nominate MyProtector in their legal wills, and we are informed through the recorded contact details. Additionally, our optional paid service, myICE, accessible via the LegalTech vault, ensures immediate access to critical information for first responders. This service automatically notifies MyProtector, allowing us to promptly manage emergencies and initiate estate administration procedures.
What happens to my information if I choose not to renew my subscription?

When you re-enter your account, you will enter at the prevailing rate at that time. No services will be rendered during the hold package while you are still around. However, if your account is on hold and you do pass away, we will still provide the estate administration services for a discounted fee.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
No, members have the flexibility to cancel or place their account on hold at their discretion. While on hold, no services are provided, and re-entry occurs at the prevailing rate. |
